Founder/Director - Silvia Garbalena-Esparza, CNM, APRN, RNC-NIC

Silvia is a certified nurse midwife that has been practicing for 5+ years. She started a home birth practice in 2017 and opened Birth Haven the only birth center in Amarillo in 2018. She is married with 4 children. She had midwifery care with her 2 oldest boys while in the military.

Secretary - Crystal Walker

Crystal is a supervisor at Amarillo National Bank. She is also a postpartum doula. Crystal was called to birth work after the birth of her daughter. She had midwifery care and delivered her daughter at home with the support of her midwife and doula. She is married with 2 children.

Financial Officer - Kaitlin Johnson, RN

Kaitlin is a birth assistant to both Silvia and April. She is also a doula and provides breastfeeding support to families. Kaitlin also volunteers her time to CASA. She is married with 4 children. She has had midwifery care with all of her pregnancies, one of which was a twin pregnancy. 3 of her 4 children were born at home.

Fundraising Officer - Britany Armindariz

Britany is the Office Manager at Beyond Birth Midwifery/Birth Haven. She has 6 children, 3 additions by marriage, and 1 grandbaby. Britany had midwifery care and a home birth with her last son, which led her down the path to promote midwifery care.

Needs Coodinator - Tambra Sanchez, SNM

Tambra is a student midwife. She is in her second year of school. Tambra was a phlebotomy tech for 10 years. She is also a doula and does placental encapsulation. She is married with 3 children and has blessed two families as a surrogate.

Grants Coordinator - Haley Hernandez

Haley is an Amarillo Native and proudly served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps for over five years. She attained her Master of Social Work with specialty in Mental Health and Substance Abuse from the University of Texas at Arlington in December 2019. Haley is married with two children. Haley received midwifery care for both pregnancies and proudly welcomed her children into the world at home.
